More Info on ICF
ICF Construction has many beneficial properties that makes it attractive to build with. The following statistics will demonstrate this and suggest that ICF Construction offers an unparalleled level of energy efficiency, durability, and comfortability to its customers.
Energy Efficiency
ICF buildings are, on average, 50% more energy efficient than traditional wood-framed buildings. This results in tremendous savings on electric bills, with some reports showing up to 60% savings.

Strength and Durability
ICF buildings are incredibly durable. ICF buildings are approximately 10 times stronger than traditional wooden framed buildings. ICF walls can withstand circular winds up to 250 miles per hour compared to 115 miles per hour wind rating of traditional walls. This is a category 5 hurricane or tornado compared to a category 3.
Fire/Mold/Pest Resistant
Because ICF walls are made of concrete and Styrofoam not wood they are resistant to fires, termites, mold, rot, and other unwanted pests. They are said to have a 4 hour fire rating while a typical wood-framed wall is only said to have a 1 hour fire rating. This allows homeowners and people inside the buildings to have peace of mind knowing that they’re safe from fires and a decaying building.
Noise Reduction
ICF's use of concrete and double sided insulation provides much better sound insulation properties than wooden framed buildings. The sound transmission class (STC) of ICF walls is approximately 54 versus the STC rating of approximately 35 with wooden framed walls this allows for the building to be 5-10 decibels quieter than other wooden-framed buildings. The sound transmission class is rated on a scale where the higher the number, the quieter. This results in a peaceful, quiet, inviting environment which is very helpful for people that live in louder/busier areas.

Added Value of Home
Due to all of the beneficial factors of ICF Construction already listed, an ICF home usually costs 3-5% more up front to build. However, since houses typically appreciated with inflation, an ICF house can also be sold for at least 3-5% more than a wood-framed house. This 3-5% along with all the savings in energy costs, and beneficial factors this 3-5% up front easily pays for itself and becomes obsolete overtime.
